South Africa may be the destination du jour, but its upstairs neighbor Namibia – land of vast deserts, a few German tourists in safari outfits and more seals per capita than people – is a star in its own right. Tack it onto a trip to Cape Town (the Namibian dollar is equivalent to and interchangeable with the South African rand) or make it a trip on its own; Namibia has utterly spectacular scenery, unlike anything you’ve seen before, ample opportunity for adventure, and you’ll feel like you’ve stumbled across an undiscovered gem.
