Grilled Swordfish Steaks with Chipotle-Avocado Salsa

Obviously I love to cook, but grilling does not come naturally to me. Mostly this is because I’ve always had a fear of fire (I won several fire safety poster contests as a child and did not light a match until I was 16 years old).  However, like most reasonable human beings, I do love to eat grilled food, so I’m lucky that my fearless friend and roommate has taken on the challenge of learning to properly grill with charcoal.

Mexican Mushroom and Potato Salad

The temperatures haven’t risen out of the mid-60s besides two freak days a couple of weeks ago, but I don’t care if it’s too soon- I’m declaring it salad season.

It’s also running season, now that I can venture outside without four layers and my face getting unadorably wind-chapped. In fact, I’ve already managed to create a full-on racerback tan just in time for a wedding I’m attending on Friday in a backless dress. One of my favorite ways to “do the weekend” – and this should come as absolutely no surprise to those who know me – is to figure out the most efficient way to tackle my to-do list. Often, this means mapping my running route around things I need to get done.

Braised Chard, Potato and Poblano Tacos

A couple of weeks ago, I celebrated a birthday. In years past, my birthday celebration has generally been out at a restaurant or bar with a group of friends, with the size of the group a direct reflection of my feelings about that year’s birthday. But this year, I decided to throw myself a themed fiesta and cook dinner for 25 of my closest friends. Easy, right?
