Vinegared Kale Puree

Last weekend I didn’t cook. At all. Not a single thing! Instead of spending a full day in the kitchen, I spent two full days deep cleaning the main floor of my apartment. In the aftermath of this decision, my hands are a wreck from essentially soaking in Lysol for 30 hours (why didn’t I wear gloves?), there is not a speck of dust in the entire place, the floors are shiny and the apartment has a faint chemical smell that signals to anyone who enters that this is a home that has recently been cleaned within an inch of its life.

This post is going to be offensive to anyone who believes in always doing things the right way and to people who like to stand in front of their hot stove stirring constantly on a hot summer’s day in a stuffy apartment. Lemony Barley Salad with Kale Pesto

This past weekend I co-hosted my very first dinner party. A real, actual dinner party that involved cooking for many, many hours (let’s be honest, many days) and seven old friends sitting around and dining on around a table that had never actually been dined upon. Unfortunately, the terrifyingly strong margaritas I was drinking impaired my judgment just enough so that no photos of the event, the food or the people were taken. So instead of sharing with you some of my favorite Mexican recipes (there’s always next time), this post will be about atoning for a massive alcohol-induced headache. And I’m pretty sure if you look up tequila in the thesaurus, it will tell you the antonym is kale.
